No matter what part of the U.S. you may have found yourself in on July 4th, no doubt there was some sort of automotive related event you could attend. The Big Island of Hawaii (Hilo Bayfront to be exact) was no exception, as this year saw the return of the tri-annual, 2-week "Cruise Paradise" event hosted by Hawaii Classic Cruisers, which culminated in a 4th of July Car Show. An estimated 320+ vehicles and thousands of spectators turned out for the car show portion.
Cars from the 1920's all the way up to showroom fresh rides were included, with the majority of cars representing the iconic nameplates of the 1950's-70's. There has also been a big push to include all makes and models (imports as well) but it was still a decidely "Classic-Heavy" event. But with such a diverse display of vehicles from as far away as
Long Island, Canada, (and if rumors are true) even Australia, even the most jaded enthusiast could find something to appreciate! With perfect weather and great atmosphere, you couldn't have asked for a better setting.
Enjoy our pictorial coverage and if this event seems like something you and your ride would enjoy (no matter where you reside or what you drive) then plan ahead for the 2015 event. It's sure to be a winner!
Probably one of the all-around nicest trucks at the event.
Custom steering linkages to clear the headers!
Ultra clean and original 2nd gen 'Vette.
Challenger twins in green...
...and purple!
Custom '64 Plymouth Valiant with modern Challenger wheels and custom bodywork.
Beautifully restored, #'s matching, white-glove quality Challenger drop-top!
Numbers matching, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. Flawless (and valuable!)
Proud to say we had a hand in prepping this beauty for the show! We helped the customer by installing all external decals...
...restoring the hood bezel "383" emblem plate (including the red-rimming of the numbers)...
...and addressing the split vinyl in the Driver's side rear armrest. Glad to have played a part in making this car show-ready!
?????!
Only a car guy knows...
The chrome on many of the Chevys was beyond flawless!
Sick custom "Rat-Truck" with faux distressing/weathering.
Don't know who he is, but the kid's got good taste in cars!
One of the biggest attention getters of the show (for obvious reasons!)
Yes, when parked, this bad boy sits on its pipes!
Perfect for our "Hawaiian Winters"
Go ahead. TRY and tow it! :)
427 Stingray. Owner "Mike" was super cool and knew his 'Vettes!
Prominently featured in the "Cruise Paradise" event magazine, this Corvette had a simply stunning paint job! Featuring fully airbrushed emblems, this bad boy BARELY got put together in time for the show, but we're glad it did!
Airbrushed!
To have the talent to airbrush perfect emblem replicas on a freshly sprayed, flawless, multi-hour paint job is amazing!
EASILY one of our favorites that day!
'68 Charger with a modern HEMI 6.1
Well we definitely enjoyed this year's event! While there is a July 4th meet every year, the major "Cruise Paradise" meet only happens every 3rd year. So plan now for 2015!
